granite sizes

My husband (http://maplered.com) and (http://maplered.com) I are building a house and (http://maplered.com) we want to put in an island (http://maplered.com) that will be 12 feet by 5 feet.there will be a cooktop in the middle and (http://maplered.com) a prep sink also on the island (http://maplered.com) . We live in Wisconsin.just over the Illinois border. I went to a Granite (http://tanbrown.org) supplier in Chicago and (http://maplered.com) he said that we would have a hard time finding a slab to meet our needs..that Granite (http://tanbrown.org) doen't come bigger that 10 feet long. What do we do???.....One more thing. Would travertine be good for a bathroom? We are thinking of 24" Tiles (http://www.g682.net) on the floor and (http://maplered.com) 12" in the shower area. Unfortunately the slab to match for the Counter (http://GialloFiorito.com) top isn't long enough.they only come 7 feet long and (http://maplered.com) we need 8'6". Any suggestions?
